THAI Royal First Lounge

Boarding was scheduled at 10:30pm so I left the THAI Royal First Lounge a bit early and on my way to the departure gate, passed by the Singapore Airlines Silver Kris Lounge to have a refreshing coconut juice from the buffet 😋

Among the newspapers and magazines available were those dedicated to the late King of Thailand.

There was also a TV screen showing the works of the late King of Thailand.

Boarding was delayed and it was not until 11:10pm that boarding (with first and business class passengers getting priority boarding) started.

First Class Cabin, Main Deck

THAI's first class cabin on the Boeing 747 is located in the main deck with a total of 10 seats, all of which were occupied on the evening flight to Tokyo Haneda. Unlike the first class seats on my previous flight from Osaka to Bangkok, the first class seats on this Boeing 747 were still the old ones, just like the ones we had from Sydney to Bangkok a few years ago.

As I boarded, I was welcomed by one of the crew who escorted me to my seat and offered to hang my coat inside the coat room.

Seat, 1A

Already waiting at my seat was a pillow, slippers and the Rimowa amenity kit.

Under the ottoman, you'd find the slippers.

The headphones and the Rimowa amenity kit are placed in one of the storage bins.

As usual, there was an orchid, a chocolate and a coaster placed beside the IFE and seat controls.

A few minutes after settling in, I was offered a hot towel.

It was followed by a set of pyjamas where I asked for an S-size so I could give them to my sister 😉

The menu card and wine list was offered after awhile.

Then, it was time for a glass of Dom Perignon 👍

I asked the cabin attendant to pour me just a little of Dom, and which he did.

Moments later, one of the flight attendants came to confirm my Lobster Thermidor order.

Around 11:32, the captain came on the PA to welcome us and to give us some flight informations and that he hope to arrive on schedule in Tokyo even with the delay from Bangkok. The flight attendant came to my seat again to ask if I wanted my lobster served after take off or before landing and I told her I'd have it before landing.

Five minutes later, the inflight safety video was played. Pushback was at 11:37pm and about 11 minutes later, we had our take off.

The champagne on board was Dom Perignon Vintage 2006 👍

Around 11:55pm, the seat belt sign was turned off and one of the flight attendants came to take my drink order. I settled for my usual guava juice.

After a few minutes, my table was set up and after that, the Chicken Consomme scented with Port wine was served together with the Vanilla Duck Terrine on toasted Brioche and Rose of Halibut with Creme Fraiche and Salmon Caviar. It was fantastic 😋 I was also offered a refill of guava juice although I declined.

To end the meal, bottles of Evian mineral water were distributed.

I went to sleep after the meal service and was woken up around 4:50am by the flight attendant. Yes, it was time for breakfast 😉

Second Serving

A few minutes later, the flight attendant came to set up of the table. She also took my drinks order and I had my usual guava juice.

I was also given a hot towel.

I was also offered some cereals and yogurt although I declined.

Unfortunately, the flight attendant forgot to offer the table napkin so I had to ask for it.

After my meal, I was offered some tea and coffee although I declined.

Toilet & Lavatory

The lavatory had the usual 2 perfumes (one for men and one for women) and a body lotion from L'Occitane.

Customs & Immigration Forms

Immigrations forms were distributed after the meal service.

Around 6:10am, the captain came on the PA to inform us that we would be landing in 30 minutes. The flight attendants then started distributing the coats to the passengers. Lastly, they came to our seats to personally thank each one of us for flying with THAI.

We landed (not so smoothly) at Tokyo Haneda Airport around 6:36am and reached gate 107 six minutes later.

CONCLUSION

Having flown THAI's 747 with the new first class seats from Osaka to Bangkok days before this flight, I was hoping we'd get the same ones on this flight. Well, it seems they are normally using the old first class seats between Bangkok and Haneda which I thought was strange since a closed suite fits more on this overnight flight. Of course, I was still able to sleep well and that the seat was also very comfortable. The meal was exceptional and I was glad that my Lobster Thermidor which I ordered from THAI's website was very good. The pyjamas and Rimowa kit were also there. Overall, it was an enjoyable flight with friendly staff and great food, even if they had the old first class seats 😉
